EVERETT, Wash. — Detectives say a 62-year-old Washington man has told authorities he killed a girl he was dating.

KCPQ-TV reports the body of 46-year-old Shannon Yeager was found on Sunday near a creek trail in Everett.

Everett police say the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office determined her death was a homicide.

Detectives contacted the man after determining he and Yeager were dating. Detectives say he confessed to killing Yeager.

The man has been taken into custody on murder charges, but had not been identified as of Monday evening.
