Manasseh Walker, 23, was found guilty of aggravated animal cruelty in Sarasota County court after being arrested and charged last July. A Florida man was sentenced to a year in jail this week for intentionally setting his girlfriend’s pet bunny on fire — after the furry little creature bit him, officials said.
Witnesses told cops that the young man had been bitten by the rabbit — dubbed “Thumper” — on June 12 and become enraged, according to the Bradenton Herald.
Walker quickly dropped the bunny and then set him on fire using gasoline — chasing him down moments later as it tried to get away, the witnesses said.
Thumper managed to survive the attack, but lost both of his ears as a result.
He is now being cared for at a wildlife center in Venice, Florida.
