LINCOLN, N.H. — New Hampshire’s Fish and Game Department says a 67-year-old man died while hiking a trail in the White Mountain National Forest.

Sgt. Thomas Dakai says Stephen Barsanti, of Alton, was hiking with his wife on Wednesday when he collapsed and went unconscious on a trail about a half mile from an Appalachian Mountain Club hut in Lincoln. His wife started performing CPR and another couple assisted her and went to get help.

Barsanti died at the scene. Dakai said it’s believed Barsanti’s death was due to a medical condition.
