A man was stumbling on a train platform and fell under a moving train – emerging virtually unscathed.

Footage of the horrifying moment shows the man – unsteady on his feet – stumble between two subway cars at the Washington, D.C., Metro’s Mount Vernon station about 5 p.m. March 1, the Daily Mail reported.

He disappears from view as the doors close and the train is about to move. Shocked onlookers scramble to help the hapless man – with a few waving frantically to try stop the train.

But rather than finding the man dead after the train rolled by, the people crowd at the ledge and see him get up and continue stumbling before he is helped up.

The man’s lucky break was falling in the so-called “area of refuge” by the rails. He suffered only minor injuries.

A Metro spokesman said such incidents actually happen every week.

“It’s important for riders to monitor themselves and also look out for their friends,” spokesman Dan Stessel told NBC Washington. “If you go out for drinks with a group and someone is clearly not able to walk properly, maybe that’s the time to order a cab or an Uber, that sort of thing.”
