A man who was allegedly armed with a gun outside of CIA headquarters in Virginia was taken into custody after he pointed the weapon at his head during an hours-long standoff with police, according to authorities and a report.

The suspect allegedly started making threats outside the government building in McLean and pulled the weapon, pointing it at the facility after 10 a.m., WJLA reported, citing officials.

The commotion prompted heavily-armed officers to swarm near CIA headquarters with numerous roads shut down during what the Fairfax County police called a “barricade incident.”

Sources told ABC News at one point, the man pointed the gun at his head.

The suspect turned himself over to Fairfax police negotiators, the agency confirmed around 3:30 p.m.

No shots were fired and there were no reported injuries, a law enforcement official told WJLA.It was not immediately known what the man would be charged with, but WUSA reported he was dealing with a mental health crisis during the incident.
