Paul Manafort didn’t apologize for his crimes during a brief statement Thursday to the judge who’s preparing to sentence him for bank and tax fraud, according to reports from the Virginia courthouse.

President Trump’s former campaign chairman said he felt “humiliated and ashamed” and asked federal Judge T.S. Ellis III to be “compassionate,” according to tweets from reporters covering the proceeding.

Manafort, 69, faces 19-1/2 to 24 years in prison under sentencing guidelines.
