Donald Trump isn’t the only Republican with a late-night Twitter habit.

Former presidential candidate Marco Rubio went off on a social media rant Monday night, mocking Washington Post stories that painted him as directionless.

The Florida senator isn’t running for re-election, so by dropping out of the GOP presidential race, Rubio is temporarily jobless next year – prompting the paper and other political observers to opine about his future.

Rubio seemed to be particularly peeved about a WaPo line, quoting an unnamed longtime friend, stating he was “betwixt and between” his next move.

Rubio mockingly tweeted: “A `longtime friend’ says Rubio is `betwixt and between when it comes to whether to chest or legs tomorrow at gym.’ ”

Other zings included:

  • “According to source who knows his cousins, wife’s dentist, Rubio could do cardio instead.”
  • “A source `close to Rubio’ says he was tired after long day & has decided to sleep for a few hours before tomorrow’s ZIKA debate in Senate.”
  • And Rubio appeared to cite Donald Trump as an example of someone who could run for president without having a job in politics when he tweeted: “As for future in politics, well it’s nearly impossible for someone not in office to ever become a successful candidate for President. Right?”

He ended his screed by concluding:

“Ok that’s enough for one night. Twitter isn’t something you should just rush back into. You have to slowly increase the dosage…….”
