Maria’s back with a vengeance.

The wild weather that devastated Puerto Rico has regained its hurricane-level winds as it lashes North Carolina’s coast, the National Hurricane Center announced Wednesday.

Maria briefly weakened to a tropical storm, but quickly whipped itself into another frenzy Wednesday morning, with winds reaching up to 75 miles per hour.

The worst of the hurricane remains offshore, but its gusts extend out 230 miles and are battering the state’s barrier islands of Hatteras and Ocracoke.

It is expected to head north and move away from the US, but is taking its time — moving at just 6 miles per hour.
