Republican firebrand Marjorie Taylor Greene got into a heated confrontation with fellow GOP congresswoman Liz Cheney and Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin on the House floor Thursday, calling Cheney “a joke” ahead of the House’s vote to hold Steve Bannon in contempt of Congress.

The Georgia Republican Greene could be heard calling the vote — which comes after Bannon’s attorney asserted he would not comply with the Jan. 6 select committee’s subpoena for testimony and documents — “a joke” in a raised tone, before taking aim at Raskin, a member of the panel along with Cheney, for his support of the measure.

“I was just talking to Miss Cheney and then she [Greene] started screaming at us saying, When are you going to start investigating murders over the summer and BLM? And I said, ‘Oh, like when Kyle Rittenhouse went and killed two people at the BLM protest?’ ” Raskin told reporters following the incident.

“And she said, ‘Why don’t you represent the American people? And I said, ‘We represent the American people, in fact, the vast majority of American people,’ and then she started screaming, she starts screaming at Liz.”

Greene then turned her attention to Cheney, one of the two Republicans on the select committee, shouting,“You’re done. You’re a joke, Liz. Your party rejected you.”

According to a source familiar with the squabble, Cheney shot back, telling Greene she is “a joke and didn’t she needs to be focusing on her anti-Semitic space lasers,” in reference to a controversy surrounding a Facebook post by Greene — who was stripped from her committee assignments following the emergence of social media that peddled conspiracy theories and included racist, violent and anti-Semitic rhetoric that suggested California’s wildfires were caused by space lasers linked with the Pacific Gas & Electric Company and the Rothschilds, a prominent Jewish family.

Greene then claimed that “she never said that,” per the source.

The Bannon resolution ultimately passed in a 229-202 vote.
