Freshman GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene raked in an eye-popping $3.2 million in donations during the first three months of 2021, with much of the haul powered by donors far from her northwest Georgia district.

Approximately $654,000 of the cash was itemized — indicating a donor gave $200 or more, and thus requiring by law that the contributor’s name and address be disclosed. Of that total, a full 91% of the money came from people far outside the Peach State, according to an analysis by the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Most came from Floridians, who ponied up $88,000. Texas residents gave $83,000, while Californians contributed $74,000. Georgia residents, albeit most from outside her district, came in fourth, with $60,000 in itemized donations.

The donations make her the second most prolific fundraiser in Congress for the quarter, behind only House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who raised $4 million. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez raised a comparatively meager $2.8 million during the same period.

Greene, known to her fans as MTG, has been at the center of controversy since she entered Congress. She has voiced support for the QAnon conspiracy theory and has suggested school shootings in Parkland, Fla., and Newtown, Conn., were “false flag” operations.

In February, House Democrats took the unusual step of voting to strip Greene of her committee assignments — a move that was backed by 11 House Republicans including New York Reps. John Katko and Nicole Malliotakis.
