Flames roared through an office building in rain-soaked downtown Houston on Monday, making for an eerie image of a booming inferno against the backdrop of empty flooded-out streets.

The building, at Fannin and Bell streets, is normally occupied by lawyers for Lone Star Legal Aid, witnesses told KTRK-TV.

“Next to my apartments,” downtown Houston resident Eliud Balderas tweeted, “we just heard an explosion!”

At least one firefighter has been injured so far in battling the office blaze, KPRC reported.
