A massive explosion erupted in the streets of Venezuela on Sunday amidst deadly anti-government protests, injuring several riot cops.
A police motorbike appears to have detonated as clashes broke in the capital of Caracas over a vote to give the government virtually unlimited powers.
At least three officers were injured in the blast, but wasn’t immediately clear what caused the bike to blow up.
At least nine people were killed during the violence across the country over the weekend, including Jose Felix Pineda, a candidate for Venezuela’s constitutional assembly who supports President Nicolas Maduro, the LA Times reports.
At least 116 people have died and nearly 2,000 wounded in the lead-up to the election.
