A Florida family had an unexpected pool guest on Memorial Day.
A woman cleaning the family’s pool in Venice found a 7-to-8-foot alligator at the bottom, CBS news reported.
But the gator wasn’t there for burgers or beer — it’s mating season in the sunshine state and the reptile was looking for a place to lay eggs, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s office.
When Florida Fish and Wildlife workers hooked a wire around her neck she began to thrash wildly before launching into a “death roll,” an offensive move used to drown prey, CBS reported.
“That death roll blows your mind,” sheriff’s spokeswoman Kaitlyn Perez said. “Fortunately, multiple agencies responded quickly and removed the gator safely.”
