A Virginia mayor is accused of soliciting a prostitute — but claims the charges are all because he “got the mayor title,” according to a new report.

Hollis Tharpe was indicted Friday for allegedly visiting a massage parlor in Front Royal, the small town he oversees, on two occasions in May 2018, news station WRC-TV reported.

Tharpe insisted the appointments weren’t sexual — though he said he learned the woman who gave him the rub-downs was collared on prostitution charges six days after his last visit, according to WRC-TV.

He claimed prosecutors were “only doing this because I got the mayor title.”

“It’s embarrassing – but it’s a baseless charge,” he told the Royal Examiner.

The 67-year-old married father of four, who is also a great-grandfather, was elected to lead the town of 14,000 residents in January 2017.

He is set to appear Monday in Warren County Circuit Court.
