Mayor de Blasio attacked Democratic presidential candidate and former South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg for placing third in the Nevada caucuses Saturday night, tweeting, “try not to be so smug when you just got your ass kicked.”

The mayor-on-mayor swipe praised the “true multi-racial coalition” of caucuses winner Bernie Sanders, and chided Buttigieg, “Dude, show some humility.”

But De Blasio, a Sanders supporter, quickly caught flak for his ill will, including from one Hoosier wag who tweeted back, “The mayor from South Bend, Indiana, is still in the race. How’s your campaign for president going?”
