If Pete Buttigieg’s presidential campaign schedule is any guide, the Big Apple had better get ready for a part-time mayor of its own.
Buttigieg has been out of town for almost half of the past four months, the South Bend Tribune reported Monday.
“Of the 120 days from Feb. 1 through May 31, Buttigieg was away or plans to be away from the South Bend area at least 55 days, or 45 percent of the calendar days,” the paper found.
The same percentage was true for weekdays.
Buttigieg is scheduled to chat with Queens Democrats at LaGuardia Community College this Wednesday. It’ll be his 10th visit to the Big Apple, where the rising political star has previously attended fundraisers and given speeches.
Meanwhile, Mayor Bill de Blasio had his first foray on the presidential campaign trail over the weekend, making stops in Iowa and South Carolina.
He’s insisted that his absence won’t hamper his ability to run the nation’s largest metropolis.
“I’m absolutely convinced that my administration and I can continue to serve this city very, very effectively,” he said on WNYC Friday.
