An Australian mechanic admitted to using an app to control his ex-girlfriend’s car, according to a report.

The 38-year-old man, whose identity was not released, pleaded guilty in Hobart court to stalking his ex last year through the app he installed, Australian Broadcasting Company reported on Wednesday.

Using the unidentified app, he was able to remotely control the start and stop function of the woman’s vehicle, as well as follow her movements, the outlet reported.

“What he did is despicable and I am still trying to come to terms with the scope of violation and trauma I have experienced,” his ex-girlfriend told the court.

For six months, the pair dated and he helped her buy a Land Rover, which was how he knew the vehicle’s VIN number, prosecutors said.

Using the number, he was able to register the car with an app that sent him live updates about her whereabouts to his email, the outlet reported.

His ex-girlfriend testified that she only became aware of his alleged scheme when she came across his emails on her laptop.

“I was in shock and fear for my life when I realized he was stalking me and had control of my car,” she told the court.

As part of the plea, the man will be added to a community protection register for up to 15 years, the outlet reported. His lawyer will recommend a sentence when he appears in court next month.
