The Mega Millions jackpot has soared to $502 million — the fourth-highest prize in the game’s history — and it’s all up for grabs Friday night.

Only three other jackpots have surpassed the $500 million mark, the last one coming in 2016, when a single ticket that was sold in Indiana netted $536 million.

This time, the lump-sum payout is a cool $301 million, according to the lottery’s website.

“Large jackpots like this one capture everyone’s attention, and it would be great to see the roll go on for a while longer,” said Gordon Medenica, Mega Millions lead director and Maryland lottery and gaming director. “But at the same time, we can’t wait to see someone win.”

Tuesday night’s drawing was the 23rd straight Mega Millions drawing without a jackpot-winning ticket, though two tickets worth $1 million each matched five of the six numbers. Those tickets were sold in Illinois and at a QuickChek in Bedminster, New Jersey.

The new jackpot has been rolling over since Jan. 5, when a 20-year-old Florida man claimed a $451 million prize.

The next Mega Millions drawing is Friday at 11 p.m.
