Meghan Markle predicts President Trump’s tariffs will plunge the US into a recession but doesn’t worry for her new “As Ever” brand, calling her luxe honeys and jams “accessible” and “creature comforts.”

The Duchess of Sussex argued that her selection of jams, honeys, teas and flower sprinkles — which market for between $9 and $28 — will bring people “joy” during potential upcoming difficult times.

“I think during any time of recession, people still want to find creature comforts, items that can bring them joy,” Markle, 43, said during an interview with Fortune Magazine on Monday.

A recession is defined as two consecutive quarters of shrinking in the economy.

The US economy grew by 2.8% last year, ending the last quarter of 2024 up 2.3%.

“At the moment, all of our products are currently made in the US, so we don’t anticipate tariffs affecting us directly,” the former “Suits” actress went on, referring to President Trump launching tariffs in a bid to protect American trade interests.

“But as we look at the larger context of how this is going to affect the consumer day to day, I’m very grateful that in part of the conception of this brand, I wanted to create products that look more prestige, but are more accessible and affordable,” she added.

“You’ll see the bulk of our SKUs (stock keeping units) are under $20. From our standpoint, certainly for me, even in the expansion of the brand, things should still feel accessible,” Markle said.

The eight products from the Duchess of Sussex’s new range, a joint venture with Netflix, were officially launched online last week, selling out in under an hour.

Her collection includes a $28 pot of honey, $15 specialized flower sprinkles, crepe and cookie mixes for $14, raspberry jam in “keepsake packaging” for $14, and a selection of $12 teas.

That same day, Trump introduced a 10% baseline tariff on all imports to the US.

It was revealed that Markle was partnering with Netflix to release her products in January.Markle’s new Netflix cooking show came out in March, although many of the reviews were scathing, with “pointless” and an “exercise in narcissism” among the kinder comments.
