CLIFTON PARK — Authorities say one person has been killed and another injured when their single-engine airplane crashed in an Albany suburb.

State police say the plane had taken off from Albany International Airport and may have experienced engine trouble before crashing around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday in the southern Saratoga County town of Clifton Park, 12 miles north of Albany.

Troopers say the plane crashed in a rural section of the town. It came to rest against a pine tree in front of a house.

Police say two people were on board. Troopers say one died and the other is in critical condition.

The make and model of the plane isn’t known yet.

An investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
