LOCUST VALLEY — The driver of a school bus was killed and six people, including four children, were hurt in a collision between the bus and a cement truck on Long Island.

Nassau County Police say the driver of the cement truck was on Oyster Bay Road in Locust Valley when he hit a train overpass around 3:20 p.m. Monday, causing the cement barrel to dislodge. The driver veered into a school bus from the Locust Valley Central School District.

Officer Christopher Barling says the bus driver was killed. Four students on the bus, between 5 and 10 years old, were taken to the hospital with unknown injuries, as was a bus aide and the cement truck driver.

A call to the Nassau University Medical Center about their conditions was not immediately returned.
