More than 11,000 people have received the H1N1 vaccination this weekend at New York City health clinics.

Jessica Scaperotti, a spokeswoman for the city’s Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, said 5,478 people were vaccinated on Sunday. She said 6,008 people received the vaccine on Saturday for a weekend total of 11,486.

The health department opened the weekend clinics Nov. 7.

Officials initially set up the clinics to vaccinate middle and high school students.

After a light turnout the first weekend, they expanded to include pregnant women, people ages 4 to 24, anyone who lives with or cares for infants under 6 months old, and adults with underlying medical conditions.

The weekend clinics continue until Dec. 13.

To find clinic locations, call the city’s 311 line.
