A firearm was recovered in the building, authorities said.

The teenager was allegedly hanging out in his family’s apartment with a handful of friends when the gun went off, sources told the Daily News.

One of the friends, however, stayed at the home to open the door for the police when they arrived, the outlet reported.

The victim’s parents, who were both at work at the time, rushed home only to find their son dead.

“I save people everyday, but I couldn’t save my own son. I don’t know why God would do this to me. He was a beautiful boy,” the victim’s mother, a registered nurse, told the outlet.

Neighbors suggested that one of the victim’s friends owned the gun.

No arrests have been made as the investigation remains active.
