A 14-year-old boy was viciously stabbed to death during a mass brawl at a Bronx playground that also left a 17-year-old riddled with knife wounds — and several teens now face murder charges, cops said Wednesday.
Bronx youth Angel Mendoza was jumped by a group of at least seven hooligans late Tuesday while he was holding up his hands, and stabbed in his heart, stomach and side, said his loved ones and a witness.
Police rushed to the melee at Williamsbridge Oval Playground in Norwood just after 7:30 p.m. and found the grievously wounded Mendoza clinging to life, NYPD officials said.

Four youths – Andrew Ansah, 18, Jordan Williams, 18, and two boys, ages 15 and 16, whose names were not released because they are minors – were arrested Wednesday, officials said.
They all face charges of murder, manslaughter and two counts each of gang assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
Grisly pictures from the playground showed bloodstains on the ground where a large group of teenagers had been fighting for about 15 minutes before the stabbing.

“His lip was cut. His front teeth were broken like somebody hit him with a pistol. His face was bruised,” he told the Daily News.
“Everyone who was involved should be arrested. They can fight as much as they want without knives and guns,” he said. “They have mothers and they need to see how Angel’s mother looks right now.”

The grieving family, who moved to the US from the Dominican Republic just over a decade ago, were told at first by a neighbor that the ninth-grader had been injured in a brawl.
“[The police] said there was a disagreement between two groups and that they started fighting and that someone called the police,” Mendoza’s older sister, Yunarlyn, told the Daily News.

A 17-year-old boy who was stabbed in the shoulder and abdomen in the same brawl was taken by private means to Montefiore Medical Center, where he was in stable condition, police said.
At least one blade and a firearm were recovered from the scene, according to sources.

His mother made him plantain and salami before he left, heading to the Williamsbridge Oval, where he often went to play basketball.
“He was really lovely, really calm and friendly but he always wants to be behind his friends. And whatever his friend does, he was gonna do,” dad Miguel said.

“Around here, I usually don’t see anything crazy. Maybe occasionally something happens but nothing like someone dying from a stabbing, especially like a young kid like that,” the 21-year-old man, who asked not to give his name, told the Norwood News.

In June last year, a 66-year-old man was stabbed to death in the park, which sees regular police patrols.
