A 15-year-old boy was killed while surfing on a train car on Staten Island Wednesday afternoon, police said.

The teen was riding on the train line with friends just after 1 p.m. when he climbed on top of the car by himself after the Annadale stop, authorities said.

The Tottenville High School student hit his head on an overhead structure, causing serious trauma, and was removed from atop the train at the Eltingville stop, according to police and the MTA.

EMS rushed the teen to Staten Island University Hospital North in critical condition but he did not survive, cops said.

MTA officials have repeatedly urged people not to ride on top of trains in the wake of several teens being severely injured or killed as part of the dangerous trends that was in part driven by social media last summer.

“This was an awful situation that demonstrates again the deadly risk taken by anyone who attempts to subway surf,” NYC Transit President Richard Davey said in a statement.

“Our hearts go out to loved ones who have senselessly lost a child and we continue to encourage teenagers find safer ways to seek thrills.”
