The dangerous cascade of bricks that fell from the 181st Street subway-station ceiling on the 1 line in August will set the MTA back at least $17.5 million, the agency’s independent engineer said.

No one was injured in the early-morning partial ceiling collapse, although Mayor Bloomberg said it “could have killed somebody” at a busier hour.
