KENT, N.Y. — Authorities say a 17-year-old boy has drowned in a suburban New York lake.

Lake Carmel Fire Chief James Hauth says Robert Cruz Garcia went under while swimming with two friends on Thursday night.

Divers from the Mahopac Falls Fire Department pulled him out of the lake. He was pronounced dead at Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel.

Authorities say the teens were swimming after hours.
