$18.4M for ma’s lost leg
A woman who lost her leg after she was struck by a city bus in Hell’s Kitchen was out almost $10 million yesterday — but she’s not complaining.
While the state Appellate Division reduced Gloria Aguilar’s award against New York City Transit from $27 million to $18.4 million, it’s still the largest-ever award for a lost limb in the state.
Aguilar, 46, was heading home from her janitorial job in 2005 when the X1 express bus ran into her in a crosswalk on West 50th Street at 10th Avenue.
The city tried to blame Aguilar, but a jury found the mom of three blameless.
