A 19-year-old man was critically injured when a fire broke out Saturday night in a 12th-floor apartment on Glenmore Avenue in East New York, Brooklyn, the FDNY said.
Firefighters found a frantic woman in the hallway just before 7 p.m. begging them to save her “baby,” Capt. Daniel Kudlak told the Post.
A semi-conscious 19-year-old man, believed to be her son, was carried from the burning building in a “heroic move” by firefighter Conor Norman, Kudlak said.
The victim was rushed to Brookdale Hospital for smoke inhalation.
“We made a difference,” Kudlak said. “This is something that this firehouse has the most pride in what they do.”
The blaze was under control in about 35 minutes, and its cause remains under investigation.
