Two men slashed each other as an early-morning clash turned vicious on the subway platform at Grand Central Tuesday, the latest in a rash of violence in and near the trains, police said.

The men, Rafael Santiago, 30, and Jason Chatham, 50, got into a fight on the northbound 4, 5 and 6 train platform at 42nd Street-Grand Central minutes before 1 a.m., authorities said.

They knifed each other on the arms, with Chatham treated on scene by emergency responders and Santiago taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he was described as conscious and alert, police said.

The nature of the dispute was not immediately clear, and it was also unclear whether the two men knew each other.

Both men were taken into custody and charged with misdemeanor assault, sources said.

A knife was recovered at the scene, according to the sources.

Chatham has several prior arrests, including busts for robbery and rape, according to the sources.

Santiago has no criminal history, the sources said.

The assault is the third in as many weeks to plague the major transit hub.

Metro-North rider Malik Little, 46, was charged with attempted murder Saturday for allegedly stabbing another man who complained about the loud music he was playing as the train pulled into Grand Central, MTA Police said. 

And on Christmas Eve, Jason Sargeant, 28, allegedly stabbed a 26-year-old woman in the throat and slashed a 42-year-old man in the wrist in separate attacks during a violent spree inside Grand Central Terminal.

The subway system has also been plagued by a series of violent incidents.

In a broad-daylight stick-up Monday, two teen boys allegedly ripped a 17-year-old girl’s headphones off her head inside the No. 6 train train station at 23rd Street around 2 p.m., law enforcement sources said. 

She was at the turnstiles when the pair came up behind her and grabbed her Apple AirPods Pro Max, according to the sources.

Officers responded and took both boys, 15 and 17, into custody, the sources said. 

Hours later, just before 8 p.m., a robber snatched a chain off the neck of a 16-year-old boy as he stood on the mezzanine of the Whitlock Avenue 6 train station in the Bronx, authorities said. 

The NYPD on Tuesday released footage of the masked suspect – seen wearing all black, including a North Face coat – fleeing the station. No arrests have been made.

In another startling act of violence around 11:40 p.m. Sunday, a 40-year-old man was apparently pushed onto the northbound L train tracks at the Jefferson Street station, authorities said. 

The victim – who told cops he was intoxicated and did not fully remember what happened – was involved in a fight with two apparent strangers when one of them shoved him onto the tracks, cops and sources said. 

A witness told investigators there was no oncoming train at the time, and the victim was helped back onto the platform by a good Samaritan, cops said.

The victim was taken to the Elmhurst Hospital Center, where he was treated for a fractured nose bone and received 11 staples to the back of his head, sources said.

No arrests had been made by Tuesday evening.
