KERHONKSON, N.Y. — State police say two young men are dead and another is seriously hurt after a driver lost control of his speeding car and ran into a tree in upstate New York.

They say 19-year-old Daniel Ronk was driving a Geo Tracker when it ran off the road on a curve at about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in the town of Rochester, about 65 miles south of Albany.

Ronk was killed along with 22-year-old Michael Flynn, who was thrown from the car. The front-seat passenger, 24-year-old Shane Avery, was taken by helicopter to Westchester Medical Center, where he was reported in critical condition. All three are from the Ulster County community of Kerhonkson.
