A Bronx day care employee is charged with manslaughter after a 20-month-old boy died in her care Friday afternoon, authorities said.

Cops responding to a 911 call at 2:20 p.m. found little Cardel Williamson lying on a bed with labored breathing inside the licensed day care run out of a private apartment on College Avenue in Claremont, according to police.

The officers performed CPR and rushed Williamson to Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center, but the tot could not be saved, officials said.

Athena Skeeter, a 40-year-old worker at the day care who also lives in the building, was arrested Saturday, and charged with manslaughter and endangering the welfare of a child after the medical examiner ruled the tragic death a homicide, authorities said.

Police referred inquiries about the child’s cause of death to the medical examiner’s office, which could not immediately be reached.
