ALBANY, N.Y. — Federal prosecutors have charged 25 people with drug conspiracy as members or associates of the “Original Gangsta Killers” from Albany’s South End, a gang they say was responsible for 19 robberies and shootings since 2001.

All but two are also charged with racketeering. Authorities say they fought with the rival “Jungle Junkies” from the city’s Arbor Hill neighborhood, with some of the violence spilling into downtown.

While 11 were already in jail, the 14 arrests Thursday follow a more than two-year investigation by federal and local police. One suspect remains at large.

The 24 men and one woman range in age from 19 to 43.

In 2006, 30 members and associates of the Jungle Junkies were indicted. All were convicted.
