A woman was found dead in her Queens apartment in what police are now calling a murder, authorities said Monday.
The woman, 28, was discovered inside her one-room Astoria apartment on Steinway Street near 28th Avenue on Sept. 5 after a 911 tipster reported a foul smell coming from the apartment, police said.
Investigators discovered the woman lying on the floor with multiple cuts to her chest.
Police said the wounds initially looked self-inflicted, but the medical examiner has since determined the incident a homicide.
The woman’s identity is being withheld pending family notification and the investigation is ongoing, authorities said.
