POMFRET, NY –Three people were killed when a train struck their U-Haul van in this Western New York village.

State Police say those killed Saturday were 24-year-old Sean O’Rourke, William Marquardt, also 24, and 26-year-old Zachary Nydahl, all of Dunkirk.

A witness, William Brown, said the U-Haul “just exploded when the train hit it.”

Authorities are investigating.
