Two children and an adult were injured when an explosion sent a manhole cover flying through the air Friday night in the Bronx, authorities said.

The plate burst from the ground near Park Avenue and East 188th Street around 8:25 p.m., and smacked into the kids, officials said.

The children, whose exact ages weren’t immediately known, were treated at St. Barnabas Hospital for minor injuries.

The blast also knocked an adult woman to the ground, but she declined medical attention.

The explosion appears to have resulted from a small fire that broke out near an underground Con Edison electrical box, sources said.

There was no reported loss of power in the area.
