An off-duty MTA employee was shot dead early Saturday in Brooklyn in one of three deadly slayings reported in the overnight hours, authorities said.
Dustin Jackson was standing at the corner of Vermont and Livonia avenues in East New York when he was shot dead just after 2:30 a.m., police said.
Jackson, a 37-year-old subway-car cleaner who lived nearby, was struck several times in the chest. He was pronounced dead at Brookdale Hospital.
“He was a nice gentleman,” said Herman Loadholt, a neighbor. “I know the family, very nice people, polite, well spoken.”
Another shooting six hours earlier and barely a mile away took the life of another Brooklyn resident.
Stashun Thomas, 22, was shot in the torso and right arm on Hegeman Avenue near Shepherd Avenue at around 9:20 p.m. on Friday, police said.
First responders rushed Thomas, of the nearby Cypress Hills Houses, to Brookdale Hospital, but he could not be saved.
Meanwhile, in The Bronx, 24-year-old Odane Bentley was gunned down outside his Wakefield home at 8:55 p.m. Friday, authorities said.
Bentley was standing in front of the house on De Reimer Avenue near Camp Street when a light-colored SUV pulled up.
A man hopped out of the SUV and squeezed off several rounds, one of which hit Bentley in the chest, police said.
Bentley was pronounced dead at Montefiore Medical Center.
Cops have yet to identify suspects or motives in any of the slayings.
