LEWISBORO, N.Y. — New York authorities say four teenagers are under arrest for stealing oars from two fishermen, stranding them on an island.

The teens were charged with felony grand larceny, misdemeanor and other charges.

A spokeswoman for the New York City Department of Environment Protection said police on shore and in a helicopter spotted the teens Monday rowing to shore with the stolen oars.

Spokeswoman Mercedes Padilla said the teens then hopped into a car. They were arrested a short time later in the parking lot of Fox Lane High School in Bedford.

She said the fishermen were left stranded in the middle of the Cross River Reservoir.
