Four men face drug and terrorism charges after they were caught in sting operations designed to disrupt links between international terrorists and criminal groups, prosecutors yesterday said.

The charges highlighted “the growing nexus between drug trafficking and terrorism,” Manhattan US Attorney Preet Bharara said.

In an operation targeting the Taliban, Afghan national Taza Gul Alizai was charged with selling heroin and weapons to a US law-enforcement agent.

Separately, three men with ties to the Lebanese group Hezbollah were arrested, including Siavosh Henareh, who allegedly tried to sell heroin to US agents.

Also arrested in that sting were Cetin Aksu and Bachar Wehbe.

Those men allegedly told people secretly working for the DEA that they wanted to purchase anti-aircraft missiles and handguns for the group.
