450G fed-tax refund scam
An accused con man — already on the hook for an alleged $1 million federal- securities fraud — stole an additional $450,000 in IRS refunds through a bogus job-placement Web site, according to a Manhattan Supreme Court indictment.
Petr Murmylyuk’s Web site took people’s personal information and submitted phony tax returns on their behalf, cashing the refunds of 108 of them via an e-filing vendor, prosecutors say.
