A 61-year old man was run over early Monday after he lay down in the middle of the road in Brooklyn, police said.

The unidentified man was lying on Broadway between Putnam Avenue and Cornelia Street in Bushwick just before 2 a.m. when he was struck by a late model Jeep, according to police.

The man was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull in serious condition, authorities said.

It’s not immediately clear why the man was in the street, or whether the driver of the Jeep, who left the scene, knew they had hit someone, police said.
