Service on the 7 train was suspended during the evening rush — and an hour before the start of a Mets home game — before it was restored with major delays Wednesday.

Signal problems between the Hudson Yards station in Manhattan and Flushing-Main Street in Queens led the MTA to cancel the service. The agency advised riders to instead take the S shuttle or the E, F, M, N, R and W lines, but none of those will get baseball fans directly to the stadium.

The line went down around 5:55 p.m. and the MTA brought it back at about 6:40 p.m., with delays. The Mets-Phillies game was scheduled for 7:10 p.m.

Passengers were frustrated as they tried to get around the city.

“Been stuck on Main Street bound train at Court Square for about a half hour,” straphanger Ken Che said on a Facebook group for 7 train riders. “But, an empty train just passed us heading towards Manhattan.”

Rider Leonor tweeted that she’d hoped the higher fares instituted last month would lead to better service.

“Hey @MTA the #7train isn’t working again and THOUSANDS of people can’t get home,” she wrote. “Why again did the fares go up?”
