An elderly woman was fatally hit by the driver of an SUV while crossing a Queens street in her motorized scooter, cops said Tuesday.
Carolyn Egger, 76, was crossing 74th Street near 30th Avenue in Jackson Heights around 3:30 p.m. Saturday when the driver of a 2001 Nissan SUV struck her while attempting to turn right onto 30th Avenue, cops said.
Egger was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst, but could not be saved, cops said.
The driver made a complete stop before turning into the intersection, and Egger was in the crosswalk when she was struck, according to police.
The motorist stayed at the scene and was not immediately charged in the incident, cops said.
