Eight people were overcome by stifling heat when an elevator broke down at the Brooklyn Detention Center today, the FDNY said.

The elevator got stuck at around 9:30 a.m. at the Boerum Hill facility, leaving eight civilians trapped inside for more than an hour, fire officials said.

The elevator quickly turned into an oven as temperatures rose, causing at least one person to suffer a seizure, and another to suffer an asthma attack, officials said.

Firefighters were able to free victims just after 10:30 a.m., officials said.

Two people were taken to Brooklyn Hospital Center in serious condition while six more were transported as a precaution.
