A woman and her 4-year-old granddaughter died when a fire broke out in a Long Island home early Sunday.

The blaze started around 3 a.m. in the two-story home on North 12th Street in New Hyde Park, according to Nassau County authorities.

A second grandchild, a 10-year-old boy, escaped by jumping out a window.

“There were three people that were in the house. All did get transported to area hospitals,” said New Hyde Park Fire Chief Brian Sherwood.

“One child did come out the front window on his own,” he added. “There was a car underneath that broke his fall, but he did get transported as well.”

The woman, 68, and her granddaughter died at the hospital, according to police.

The boy reportedly was hospitalized with burns and a broken arm.

Two other people who were inside the home at the time were uninjured.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation but it was deemed non-criminal early on, according to police.
