AMSTERDAM, N.Y. — Police say an 81-year-old Mohawk Valley man was killed when the mower he was riding overturned, tumbled down a 35-foot ravine and landed on top of him.

Police in Amsterdam say William Kryzs (Kriss) apparently came too close to the edge of his lawn and the mower overturned.

Kryzs was found by his son, who called 911.

Amsterdam is about 30 miles west of Albany.
