An FDNY first responder pictured in an iconic 9/11 photo is alleging he was the victim of anti-white discrimination after he was kicked out of an “all-black” color guard procession, The Post has learned.
Lt. Dan McWilliams filed a complaint with the department after the president of the Vulcan Society — a fraternal organization of black firefighters — asked him to “help in a different capacity” at a church service instead of holding a flag, according to FDNY sources.
“I have asked Lt [Mc]Williams to help in a different capacity for the ceremony today,” read a text from Regina Wilson, president of the Vulcan Society. “I want to have an all-black color guard.”
After the incident, McWilliams filed a complaint with the FDNY, charging Wilson with discrimination. She was interviewed by investigators last month.
