Nine people were hurt in a fire in the West Village this morning, authorities said.
Flames erupted shortly before 5 a.m. on the fourth floor of a multi-apartment building on Commerce Street, near Bedford Street, a Fire Department spokesman said.
The blaze was under control at about 5:35 a.m.
Two people suffered minor burns, while seven needed to be treated for smoke inhalation, the Fire Department said.
The patients were taken to New York Hospital in stable condition. None of the injuries were believed to be life threatening.
