Thousands of “non-essential” city workers who were told by Mayor Bloomberg to stay home last Thursday because of the blizzard can get paid for the day — but only if they ask for it in writing.
City-agency bigs yesterday e-mailed workers who had been absent, saying they would have to either claim a vacation or comp day — or file a written appeal explaining why the city should eat the cost.
