Two early morning fires claimed the lives of two elderly women in the Bronx, fire officials said.
An 82-year old woman was killed when a fire tore through her third floor residence on Valentine Avenue near East 192nd Street at 2:37 a.m., police and fire officials said.
It took less than 30 minutes for 60 firefighters to extinguish the flames.
The second fire broke out a few hours later at 5:42 a.m. in a third floor apartment at 15 North Street.
Firefighters raced to the scene and removed an 86-year-old lady from the burning apartment but the she was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Both fires remain under investigation.
